MEN’S STORY GROUP
What is the Men’s Story Group?
This is a guided group experience for men. Four formative stories will be written, shared and engaged in bi-weekly sessions. The assigned story topics explore the background that shaped our personality and relationship style, and offer new strategies to improve relationships. Until we truthfully and tenderly understand the guiding stories of our life, we cannot re-author and change the way we show up with the people and in the spaces that most matter.
What Curriculum Guides the Story Work?
The story of Jacob from Jewish history features eight significant periods of his life. Within this ancient story these stages offer a guiding framework for the modern-day journey of a man’s life. Mike has crafted a two-part curriculum for men in their 20s thru 60s entitled Water Crossings, Wilderness Wanderings. The Men’s Story Group has two offerings: Dusk and Dawn, each of which are a four-session offering. Dusk focuses on the first-four and Dawn focuses on the following-four stages of a man’s journey.
Men will be guided through the four stages: Parent Pre-History, Family Role, Conflict and Desire, and Leaving Home.
What is the Format?
4 sessions, each session is two-hours in length. Men are asked to arrive on time and stay for the duration. Men will write four stories on the assigned prompt and bring a printed copy to the group experience. Further story writing guidance and parameters will offered to ensure success.
